The documentary film Miss Representation will be screened at 7pm on March 20 at the Pera Museum, Meşrutiyet Cad. 65. TICKETS are free and available at the door. The evening is hosted by Canımız Sokakta (Hollaback Istanbul). Following the screening, there will be a panel and discussion.
Premiered at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival, Miss Representation exposes how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself. Provocative and deeply moving, Miss Representation seeks to empower women and girls to challenge limiting labels in order to realize their potential.
